Reduced-fee Clinic

What is the Guild of Psychotherapists Reduced-Fee Clinic?

As part of the charitable aims of the Guild, we run an affordable reduced-fee clinic to provide access to psychotherapy to those on low incomes. The clinic is staffed by experienced psychotherapists and trainees in supervision.

Who is the clinic for?

Anyone who earns £18,000 per annum or less and lives in the boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth or Lewisham.

How much psychotherapy is available?

Up to two years of once weekly psychotherapy.

What type of therapy is it?

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy. You can read more about what that means here.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the initial consultation session is £35. There is a sliding scale for each session thereafter according to income and personal circumstances, with a minimum fee of £5.

How do I apply?

Phone the clinic on 0207 401 3370 or email

Is there a waiting list?

Usually, yes. It is restricted to fifteen people at any one time. If the waiting list is open, you will be added to it and offered an initial consultation as soon as possible.

Can I apply on someone else’s behalf?

No, we ask all prospective service users to get in touch themselves. If you think that a family member or friend would benefit from therapy then perhaps encourage them to make contact.

How is the clinic funded?

We have recently received funding from the City of London Corporation Charity, City Bridge Trust, to help members of the BAME population in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham access psychotherapy in the Clinic. Please contact the Clinic if you would like to explore the possibility of working with one of our therapists.
