DESCRIPTION:4-hour CPD workshop with Alistair Park \nSaturday 11th April 2026\, 13:00 – 17:00 \nLocation: Carshalton Beeches Baptist Free Church\, Banstead Road\, Carshalton Beeches\, Surrey\, SM5 3NL \nFee: £50 \nEarly Bird Fee: £40 if booked before 23/03/2026 \nBook your place by emailing suttonccp@gmail.com \nLimited spaces available \nMoney is difficult for all of us in all sorts of ways: \nWhether worrying about where it is going to come from\, feeling envious of others who have more\, collecting as much as you can and keeping it safe for a rainy day\, perhaps struggling to buy presents for your loved ones at Christmas or feeling concerned or disappointed at what they spent on you. \nWe are all subject to concerns about: \nSecurity\, Dependency\, Love\, Status and Self-respect \nAnd these\, and more\, are echoed in our relationships with money. It can be hard to bring up problems around money in the consulting room\, not only because of the real-world shame it might evoke in the client\, but also because we are implicated through the fee they pay for their therapy. But what complexities are exposed or go unspoken\, if we do or if we don’t explore the subject of money in our work with clients? \nIn this workshop\, we will begin by reflecting on our own relationships with money\, including the complexities surrounding our desire to be paid. We will examine the symbolic meanings behind conflicts over money in the consulting room and review clinical material. Finally\, we will consider practical ways to discuss money with clients. The aim is to gain a clearer understanding of our relationship with money and our sense of value\, and to become more confident and comfortable when seIng and collecting fees. \nAlistair Park is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and supervisor practising mainly in private practice in Central London. He ini7ally qualified as a counsellor nearly 30 years ago\, and he is an experienced teacher\, having taught on mental health issues in higher education for many years while also working clinically in the NHS. He provides supervision to a number of counselling and psychotherapy services across London.
