The Guild’s psychoanalytic supervision course will next run on eight Saturdays starting in September 2025 and completing in May 2026. The course will be held in-person at The Guild’s Nelson Square address in Southwark, SE1. The course is designed for psychoanalytic psychotherapists (see separate eligibility criteria document).
2025-26 course dates (Saturdays):
27 September 2025
8 November 2025
13 December 2025
17 January 2026
7 February 2026
14 March 2026
11 April 2026
16 May 2026
First held in 2009, the course comprises:
An innovative training, structured around different theories about the history and practice of psychoanalytic supervision
In-depth discussion of transference, ethics, boundaries and the constraints of working within different settings
Ongoing exploration of differences, including class, culture, disability, race and sexuality
Emphasis on developing practitioners’ own distinctive supervisory style
Suitable for experienced supervisors as well as for more recently qualified clinicians
Prepares students for registration with the British Association of Psychodynamic & Psychoanalytic Supervisors (BAPPS)
Fees for the training are £2,475 (£2,200 for Guild Members). Excluded from the fees is supervision of supervision (minimum 15 hours), which is to be arranged separately by individual students. Included is 18-months subscription to PEP-web for non-Guild applicants who do not already have access.
Although our own and other supervision courses cannot automatically guarantee acceptance for BAPPS membership, completion of the course (including the optional essay) fulfils the supervision training criteria for applications to the British Association of Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervisors (BAPPS).
